Pregnancy, Babies, Toddler & Beyond

I am in it. Sometimes bleary eyed, but everything dissolves with my littles’ kisses. He is a very busy toddler. I Love it AND I find it to be the most challenging times of my life. As someone who loves to do it all, I find myself exhausted by the end of the day. So as everything, it is a work in progress and constant deep personal work.

If you are new to this, know that every step leads to the next, it won’t all happen at once thankfully. And, you can get everything second hand in great condition at a great price. It is so worth the hunt. And the of course you can sell it.

  • Secret language of babies

How to interpret a baby's cries

My friend Kate passed this along. It was an incredible tool once we got the hang of it.

Watch the video for the details.

  • Natursutten Pacifier

    Natursutten Pacifier

If I were to do it again, I would use this pacifier. My kid used a different brand, still natural rubber, but it affected his teeth. This brand is meant to be orthodontic to avoid that issue.

  • Levo baby rocker by Charlie Crane

Levo baby rocker by Charlie Crane

Our little dude loved this rocker. Definitely aesthetic, but perhaps not so great for travelling. Don’t forget to check second hand first! Lots of great options.

  • Nuna Pipa Car Seat

    Nuna Pipa Car Seat

There are so many out there. But we found that this one had a great safety rating… and it is kinda stylish, which of course, is important to me. Wink.

We found ours in perfect condition still in the box on marketplace.

  • Full Feedings Baby Sleep by Ann Marks

    Full Feedings Baby Sleep

    So much to say.

I was so resistant to the idea of a schedule when I was pregnant and our friend gave us the Babywise book. But once our little one was born we started following the schedule and it worked. Period. I found the Babywise method to be a great start, but Ann at Full Feedings filled in a lot of the blanks for me.

It is a lot of work to help your baby sleep, but if you have the patience it is so worth it. Our son never cried to sleep, it was all about full feedings, sleep schedules and wake times. I am telling you it will be worth your while.

  • Babywise Book

Babywise by Robert Bocknam & Gary Ezzo

We have a friend who is the model dad. I have never met a dad quite like him. His kids are well spoken, engaging, self motivated and all 3 of them slept through the night from 2 months on. I always thought he was on to something. So when he sent us the Babywise book when I was pregnant, we thought we would try it out.

Schedules didn’t seem like they would work for me, but the book makes a good case so we decided to give it a shot. Our kid was sleeping through the night by 9 weeks.

Another friend of mind told me once, that if you focus on one thing at the beginning of a kids life it should be sleep. It will help regain a little bit of independence for mom and make life easier all around if the kid is well slept. She was so right. I followed her advice.

But let it be known, it was a lot of work and at time stressful and exhausting. Do what you can.

  • Miracle® 360° Stainless Steel Sippy Cup

Miracle® 360° Stainless Steel Sippy Cup

I love this cup. It doesn’t spill and it is stainless steel. The only thing I don’t love is that the lid has some plastic in it.

  • PlanetBox ROVER STAINLESS STEEL LUNCHBOX

PlanetBox Rover Stainless Steel Lunch Box

I have snack trauma from my childhood. Both of my parents were immigrants (Chile & England) and some would say, independent thinkers, with a twist of crunchy. At the time they mostly mortified me in all of their different-ness, now I 100% see them, get them and wish I was them in the 80s.

My lunches, in my 8 year old opinion, sucked. I only ever wanted ‘normal’ lunches like all of the other kids. And normal in small town Canada in the 80s is not what I would now call healthy. I do ultra healthy now, my kid doesn’t know the difference… yet. This box just makes it all cool and delicious to my 8 year old self. I am definitely projecting… but, hey.
